February 2026: Important UK Tax Dates You Shouldn't Miss

Published 2 February 2026  ·  By RH KPO Services

February might look like a short month, but when it comes to UK tax and payroll deadlines, it's a busy one. Missing even one date can mean penalties, interest, and unnecessary stress.

✅ 7 February 2026 – VAT Return & Payment Deadline

If your VAT period ended on 31 December 2025, both your VAT return and your VAT payment must be submitted online by 7 February 2026. If you're using Making Tax Digital (MTD), late filing can lead to instant penalties and interest.

To avoid issues: keep your records updated, make payment early so it clears on time, and double-check numbers before submitting.

✅ 14 February 2026 – National Insurance Deferral (Form CA72A)

If you work in more than one job, you might end up paying extra National Insurance without realising it. You can submit Form CA72A to ask for a deferral. Deadline: 14 February 2026.

✅ 19 February 2026 – PAYE, NI & CIS Payment (Postal)

If you send PAYE, National Insurance, or CIS payments by post, your payment for the month ending 5 February 2026 must reach HMRC by 19 February 2026. Postal payments take longer — send them well in advance.

✅ 19 February 2026 – CIS Monthly Return

If you're a contractor under CIS, you must submit your CIS return for payments made to subcontractors up to 5 February 2026. Even if you made no payments, the return is still required. Missing this can lead to automatic fines every single month.

✅ 22 February 2026 – PAYE, NI & CIS Payment (Online)

If you pay via online banking, BACS or Direct Debit, your payment must reach HMRC by 22 February 2026. Bank delays can happen, so always leave buffer time to stay penalty-free.

✅ 28 February 2026 – Corporation Tax Return Deadline

If your company's financial year ended on 28 February 2025, your Corporation Tax Return (CT600) must be filed by 28 February 2026. Filing late incurs penalties even if tax is already paid. Filing early gives time to fix mistakes and avoids last-day pressure.
